Things I call Lessons
The things we learn in life...
May of 2000 I had a Radical Thoracotomy of the left lung, due to a severe Infection (Empyema) and to neglect from my then Doctor in Phoenix, AZ. (Dr. Lawrence Kramer)
While hiking/rock climbing the Arizona Desert, I got a infection from the dirt there, called Vally Fever,(or so they think) it is common, but most times a doctor just gives you something (Antibiotic) to clear it, but mine didn't give it to me, and he said I had a pulled muscle, gave me a medication I was alergic to,. Then over a week and a half I got worse. A friend found me, (Not breathing) got me to Scottsdale Memoral Hospital. They brought me back, got me stable then ended up taking half of my left lung, the plural linning, some rib sections and other things hanging around in there, as well as damaging the nerves, and muscles from my spine to my center in front.
They really messed up the surgery, but with what they had to do, its no wonder. Most people dont make it through this surgery,
never mind live after it.
This has taken its toll on me, in any shape and form you could not imagine.
I now consider myself somewhat humble, after being on disability so young, dealing with the pain I have daily, and still making it though each day.
You know what though, I try and take it as it comes, Im good, I sometimes have a hard time breathing, cant be around smokers, do have ALOT of pain to deal with, but I try and manage a simple life. It has taught me to enjoy the things I took for granted, it has showed me what other people go through, and if I keep my stress level extremely LOW, do my stretching, meditation etc. I can function OK. There is a long story why I moved back to Maine, one reason is the Doctors said if I wanted to see Maine again I should go, feeling I was luck to have made it this far, and not knowing how much time I might have left. Most people dont live after this surgery, never mind do what I do daily. Alot has to do with the excellent care I get from my medical team at Maine Medical Center Family Practice, a great Acupuncturist, ME meditating, or doing yoga and of course my strong will, and support from a few people in my life.
It is too much information for some. I want people to know and understand Im a healthy person, no diseases, take great care of my body (Docs say if I didn't I would never have made it) and I love the Earth and things of the Earth. Now people... well... they are on their own. LOL
Some of my family dislikes me due to me being GAY, and not controled by them. That is THEIR LOSS !!! Im prior military, 12 years in fact, I had to NOT re-enlist due to Clinton signing the "Dont tell, dont ask policy".
I like things NEAT and CLEAN.
Want to know more... Im of the CRAFT, you know, Pagan, Earth people, Old Religion.. I LIVE it AND practice it. Im not book taught, although I have read a few and still do, I dont beleave there is a devil, only EVIL inside people. I believe what I put out comes back on me. I believe that we need to respect not only each other but our Mother Earth, as well as the universe, that even christians follow Pagan holidays, and that we all love the same "GODDESS/GOD".
I also beleive that we are all given "LESSONS" and I'm in my lesson(s), and trying my best. Everyday I learn so very much that I didnt know before, so of course Im a strong believer that it is impossible for anyone to know everything about anything, Im happy just knowing a little about somethings, and it just might mean that I have a diffrent VIEW, which is prefrable considering thats how we learn, is from others LESSONS, and how they DELIVER those VIEWS and LESSONS.
